Lasius pallitarsis

These Lasius pallitarsis were collected by Ryan McQuoid in Arnold, early June 2023. The ants were nesting under a house, on some damp plywood. Ryan said they were reddish, and did not smell.

Dr. Philip Ward gave the ID as Lasius pallitarsis. It’s a common ant species in the California foothills and mountains, nesting in rotting wood and sometimes under stones.
